Before moving to Pender Island to take over Talisman Books & Gallery in 2007, Wendy MacDonald worked as a specialist in Rural and Remote Health Care Administration. She was the Executive Director of the Lynn Lake Hospital and then of the Churchill Health Centre, CEO of the Inuvik Regional Health Board, Executive Director of the NWT Healthcare Association, the Senior Health Administration Consultant for the NWT Ministry of Health, finally ending her Health Care career as CEO of the Central Coast Regional Health Board and R W Large Memorial Hospital in Bella Bella.
As a volunteer, Wendy began young in Manitoba serving as Chair of the Gimli & District Hospital Board, the Manitoba Healthcare Organization, and on the Board of the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre and the Keewatin Regional Health Board. After retiring, Wendy once more became a volunteer with the Mayne Island Healthcare Center, the Board of Plum Tree Court (PISHS) and now the Board of PIHCS.
